Overview

Fiammo is a private, text-first social app built around small, user-defined circles and friends. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have — particularly around text message (SMS) notifications and AI-powered features.

Information We Collect

Account information: your phone number, or an email address and password, and any profile details you provide. You can also sign in with Google, Apple, or Facebook, in which case we receive basic profile information (such as your name and email) from that provider.
Content you create: posts, echoes, and circle and friend memberships.
Contact information you provide about others: when you add someone to a circle, you may provide their phone number so fiammo can send them an invitation. See "SMS Invitations" below for how this is used.

How We Use Your Information

To operate the app: displaying your circles, friends, posts, and echoes to the people you've chosen to share them with.
To send you SMS notifications you've opted into (see below).
To send a one-time SMS invitation on your behalf when you add someone new to one of your circles.
To generate AI-powered writing insights through our Constellation feature (see below).

AI Features (Constellation)

Fiammo offers an optional feature called Constellation, which analyzes your post content using a third-party AI provider (Groq) to surface thematic patterns in your writing over time. This processing happens through a secure backend function — your raw post content is not stored by Groq, and is not used to train any third-party model.

SMS Notifications and Consent

Notifications to existing users. If you opt in, fiammo will text you when someone in your circle shares a new post. These messages include a brief preview of the post and a link back to the app. Message frequency varies based on circle activity. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP, or by adjusting your notification settings in the app.

Invitations to new contacts. When you add someone new to one of your circles, fiammo will send that person a single, one-time text message on your behalf, inviting them to opt in to future notifications about your posts. This message is sent only after you review the list of people you're adding and explicitly confirm that you have their consent to be contacted. No further messages are sent to that person unless they reply YES to opt in themselves.

Your responsibility. By confirming a bulk invitation, you are representing that you have permission to share each listed phone number with fiammo for this purpose. Please only add people who have agreed to be contacted.

Opting out. Anyone who no longer wishes to receive texts from fiammo — whether an existing user or someone who received a one-time invitation — can reply STOP at any time. To resume receiving messages after opting out, text START to the same number.

Sharing of Information

We do not sell your information. We share information only as necessary to run the app: SMS notifications and invitations are delivered through our messaging provider (Twilio); post content is sent to our AI provider (Groq) if you use the Constellation feature; and basic profile information is exchanged with Google, Apple, or Facebook if you choose to sign in with one of those providers. We do not otherwise share your circle contents, friend connections, posts, or echo activity outside the app.

Data Retention

Posts become invisible to others 24 hours after posting ("burning"). Burned posts are not immediately deleted from our systems — we retain them on our backend after they burn. Echo records and account information are retained as described in our terms of service. If you'd like a burned post permanently deleted from our systems, contact us at privacy@fiammo.co.

Your Choices

You can leave a circle, remove a friend connection, delete your account, or opt out of SMS notifications at any time.
You can request that we delete information we hold about you by contacting privacy@fiammo.co.

Changes to This Policy

We'll update this page if our practices change and note the date at the top.
